Tributes to 'lovely and caring' man as police find body in search for Sheffield grandfather

Tributes have begun pouring in after a body was found in the search for a missing Sheffield man.

Peter Percival failed to return to his home in Rivelin Valley after heading out for a walk yesterday evening, Thursday, July 16, and police have spent the morning searching the area after issuing an appeal for help to find the 53-year-old.

South Yorkshire Police said shortly after 11am today that a body had been found.

"While formal identification is yet to take place, we do believe it to be that of Peter. His family have been informed,” added the force.

Responding to the tragic news, Kelly Johnson wrote: “Such a nice guy. So so sorry to all for your loss.”

Denise Davis commented: “Peter was a very caring man, who will be sadly missed.”

And Alison Russell said: “RIP Pete. What a lovely guy. Sending love to Janet and family.”
