Spitfire surprise for Sheffield as legendary aircraft makes surprise appearance in city's skies
Iconic aircraft made two flights over the city
Sheffield residents got unexpected surprise when a legendary wartime aeroplane gave them a shock flypast.
Parts of the city looked up to see a World War Two style Spitfire fighter plane over their heads, after hearing the sound of its distinctive engines.

The famous plane made a number of flypasts over the north of the city, late on Saturday morning and early on Saturday afternoon.
The plane was a two seater Spitfire, operated by private company Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar Ltd. It is hired out for pleasure flight.
It was used by the Royal Canadian Air Force during the war, and it recently restored to flight in 2022 after a restoration programme was completed.
Its route on Saturday took if over the Derwent reservoirs in the Peak District, famous as the place the RAF Dambusters practiced, before heading out towards Strines and Agden.
From there is flew over Bradfield, Wharncliffe Side, Chapeltown, and High Green at around 11.20am.
The Spitfire later made a second flight over Sheffield, going over Stocksbridge at about 1pm.
It had been flying out of Leeds East Airport, at Church Fenton.
