Sheffield heatwave: Star reporters take on egg challenge in city centre

It’s hot. It’s Fry-day. Sheffield Star reporter Harry Harrison and Connor Bragger tried to fry an egg on the pavement of the Peace Gardens, which didn’t go to plan.

A heatwave has hit the UK with temperatures of 30 degrees expected to be felt by people in Sheffield today.

They may not have been successful in their attempts to fry the egg in the sunshine, but everyone else seemed to be enjoying the hot weather.

Crowds flocked to the Peace Garden, children played in the fountains and ice cream sales appeared to have soared in the city centre.

The outlook for the weekend in Sheffield is not as good, with temperatures expected to dip and rain forecast.

The worst weather tomorrow is expected to hit the city between 6pm and 9pm.
