Mum killed waiting for children had a ‘gorgeous heart and a beautiful smile’

Tributes have been paid to a mum-of-two who was killed while waiting for her children near a Sheffield school, after her funeral took place.

Rita Magni was resting at a bus stop at the junction of Phillimore Road and Eleanor Street, in Darnall, when an out-of-control car knocked her down on October 4.

Following her funeral this week, her family told how she had a ‘gorgeous heart and a beautiful smile’.

Sheffield health chief responds over Covid testing lab probe

A Sheffield health chief has responded after it emerged a Covid lab had only returned four positive results out of 2,400 tests from Sheffield - many fewer than would be expected.

Dr Eleanor Rutter, consultant in public health for Sheffield Council said: “This is a national issue that has been well publicised but has only affected a very small proportion of Sheffield’s tests.

“The number of people identified as potentially having been given a false negative result in Sheffield is incredibly small. There is nothing to suggest this has had a significant impact on infection rates in the city.”
