Queen Elizabeth II has passed away in Balmoral in Scotland, it has been officially confirmed.

“The death of my beloved mother, Her Majesty The Queen, is a moment of the greatest sadness for me and all members of my family,” said the monarch’s son, King Charles III.

Flags at Buckingham Palace and Downing Street have been lowered to half mast.

Prince William, Andrew and Edward have arrived at Balmoral, after touching down in Aberdeen not long ago.

What we know so far

If you’re just hearing the news, here is a breakdown of what we know at current.

Shortly after 12.30pm today, Buckingham Palace released a statement saying Her Majesty’s doctors were concerned about her health, and recommended she remain at Balmoral under “medical supervision”.

Not long later, we heard the Queen’s children were on their way to Balmoral, or were already there.

Prince Charles, Camilla and Princess Anne are at Balmoral and Prince William, Edward and Andrew recently landed at Aberdeen Airport, an hours drive from the Castle, aboard an RAF flight.

Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, is staying at Windsor whilst her children finish their first day back at school.

Prince Harry and Meghan are also travelling to Scotland, having already been in the UK for engagements.

A number of South Yorkshire leaders have shared their best wishes with Her Majesty, as we await updates on her health.

Doctors at Balmoral Castle are concerned for the health of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, according to reports from The Palace today.

Members of The Royal Family, including The Queen’s children, Prince William, Harry and Meghan, have all travelled, or are travelling to, Balmoral.
