Man arrested after crash in South Yorkshire leaves 24-year-old fighting for life

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a crash in South Yorkshire which left a 24-year-old fighting for his life.

A black Land Rover Freelander reportedly crashed into a tree after coming off the road in Rotherham, close to the border with Sheffield, during the early hours of this morning.

A 24-year-old, who was a passenger in the car, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and police said he remains in a critical condition this afternoon.

The car had reportedly travelling along Bawtry Road towards the junction with Centenary Way before crashing into the tree at about 12.45am.
