Grateful residents have thanked the firefighters who rushed to tackle a house blaze on their street.

Three crews from Birley Moor and Parkway stations were called to the house fire on Birley Spa Lane at 11.10pm on June 25.

One resident praised the firefighters, saying: “Just wanted to say a huge thank you for very hard work and making everyone feel safe last night on Birley Spa Lane! Well done.”

Crews left the scene at 1:05am and initial investigations show the fire was accidental.
