A multi-agency investigation into the cause of the fire was carried out and found that it was started deliberately.

South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said the fire involved the sofa in the lounge, in which room the woman’s body was discovered.

When crews arrived the flat was severely smoke logged but the fire had burnt out and was confined to just one room in the property.

South Yorkshire Police said officers attended but the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
