Excitement builds for Sheffield icon Richard Hawley to headline Rock N Roll Circus festival in Attercliffe
As work gets underway to transform the Don Valley Bowl into the Rock N Roll Circus for another year, excitement is building for the festival which will see Sheffield legend Richard Hawley headline the first night.
Critically-acclaimed songsmith, Richard Hawley, is set to take to the stage tomorrow night (Thursday, August 29, 2024), and delight Sheffield crowds once again.
It will mark the climax of his UK tour, which has seen him visit numerous UK towns and city including Liverpool, Norwich, London and Scarborough, along with the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow and two nights at the 3Olympia Theatre in Dublin, Ireland.

Tomorrow’s performance also follows the release of Richard’s latest album, ‘In This City They Call You Love’ in May 2024; and a successful 2023 for Standing on the Sky's Edge - the Olivier Award-winning musical telling the story of three families over a 60 year period in Park Hill - Sheffield's iconic, brutalist former council housing estate. Richard wrote the music and lyrics for the musical.
The Thursday will see Richard Hawley close the festival after performances from a whole host of other artists including Northern Ireland icons, The Divine Comedy, Liverpool's The Coral, the legendary Gilbert O'Sullivan, and South Yorkshire’s own Bromheads Jacket among others.
Sheffield’s own Milburn will close the festival on Saturday night, following on from ska revival band, The Selecter, former Libertine, Peter Doherty and Mercury Award nominated, Jake Bugg, while singer songwriter Becky Hill is set to headline the festival on Friday. But it's not all about the big names and flashy performances. Rock N Roll Circus Sheffield will also showcase 15 homegrown bands alongside their internationally-renowned counterparts.
