Sheffield Council said there will be ground investigation surveys carried out in Endcliffe Park from Monday June 29 to Friday July 24, to support flood risk work in the Sheaf and Porter catchment, as part of the city's flood protection programme.

Officials say some areas of the park will be temporarily fenced off while the work is carried out.

The authority’s parks and countryside service said in a statement: “This will not restrict entry or exit to the park, with the impact mainly on the field area.

“The work will be completed in phases allowing us to reopen sections of the restricted area as quickly as possible to minimise disruption.”

They said that on Monday June 15, some advance investigatory work would be done but disruption was expected to be minimal.

The statement added: “The surveys will support our wider efforts to protect Sheffield from the impact of flooding, and we ask for your patience and understanding while we complete this important work.”
