Debbie Cavell added: “When is all this going to stop. How do these perpetrators sleep at night?”

Emma Needham added: “This is why they need to stop cutting resources.

“When I was younger we had community police based at the school, coming to youth centre. Government cuts mean less police and therefore less visibility.”

Wendy Nicholson called for harsher sentences for those caught carrying knives.

“We need to be handing out life time prison sentences for anyone found carrying a knife and doing more random stop and search,” she said.

“Too many young people are being murdered by idiots who don’t care who they hurt.”

Janine Franks called for more police action.

She posted: “When will this needless waste of young lives stop? Police you must become zero tolerant and step up please.”

And Marcus Bruce added: “Considering you can get three years for going equipped to steal, I think if you're going equipped to steal a life the mandatory lower end sentence should be 10 years, no parole.”

Stephanie Maddison said: “When will people learn to just drop the knives and guns and other weapons – 23 years old, what a waste of a life. So sad.”
