Two arrested in connection with murder of Barnsley dad who was stabbed to death

Two more men have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Barnsley dad who was stabbed to death in June of this year.

Police arrested a 33-year-old man and a 21-year-old man both from Barnsley yesterday (Wednesday, September 2) as the investigation into Stephen Riley’s murder continues.

The 43-year-old Barnsley father died in the early hours of Saturday, June 27 of this year after he was stabbed in his chest.

Officers arrested the the 33-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender and the 21-year-old man was detained man on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

Both men have now been released under investigation

Martin Wilson, 37, of Monsal Crescent, Barnsley has been charged with murder and Julie Evans, 40, also of Monsal Crescent has been charged with assisting an offender.

They have been remanded in custody awaiting trial.
