Man and woman due in Sheffield court over murder of loving father

A man and woman are due in court in Sheffield today over the murder of a man found stabbed to death in a street.

They were arrested over the death of 43-year-old Stephen Riley, who was found with a stab wound to his chest in Darley Avenue, Athersley, Barnsley, at around 11pm on Friday, June 26.

He was taken to hospital but died in the early hours of the following day.

Martyn Wilson, 37, of Monsal Crescent, Athersley, has been charged with murder and Julie Evans, 40, also of Monsal Crescent, Athersley, has been charged with assisting an offender.

They have been remanded in custody to appear before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Anyone with information about Mr Riley’s death should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 1,227 of June 26.
