Here are some of the longest sentences which have been handed out to criminals in Sheffield so far this year.
9. Adam Malik
Adam Malik was sentenced in April to 14 years and nine months of custody after he was found guilty of two counts of rape and admitted intimidation, handling stolen goods and failing to surrender to custody.
The 35-year-old formerly of Paige Hall Road, Sheffield, had been evading justice but was finally caught after he applied for a passport while he was in the Netherlands.
Sheffield Crown Court heard heard how he was wanted for two counts of rape against a 15-year-old girl.

10. Ben Jones
Ben Jones was found guilty in April of murdering Jordan Marples-Douglas, who was stabbed to death at his home on Woodthorpe Road, near Richmond, Sheffield, on March 6, 2020.
Sheffield Crown Court heard how Jones, aged 26, formerly of Archdale Road, Manor, Sheffield, and another man – who was still at large - had forced their way into the property as the door opened and Mr Marples-Douglas was later found in his bedroom covered in blood.

11. Carl Phillips
Carl Phillips was jailed for more than 12 years after he blasted an accountant with a sawn-off shotgun in a row over an unpaid £2,500 plastering work bill.
Sheffield Crown Court heard on April 8 how Phillips, aged 28, of Wesley Avenue, Aston, Sheffield, shot his victim in the left leg and shot the front of the victim’s car after a meeting had been arranged to hand over an alleged £2,500 debt owed for plastering work.
Phillips pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and to possessing a firearm to commit an offence after the shooting on July 31, 2020, and he was sentenced to 12 years and nine months of custody
Judge David Dixon told Phillips: “This is wicked, disgraceful violence. The sort of violence courts will not tolerate. The courts will send out abundantly clear messages that violence involving firearms will not be tolerated.” Photo: SYP
12. Debesay Teklehaymanot
Debesay Teklehaymanot was sentenced in March to 10 years of detention after being found guilty of three robberies, assault and possessing an axe in public.
Sheffield Crown Court heard how the 19-year-old, of Ellerton Road, near Fir Vale, Sheffield, had forced a young woman to kneel before hitting her with an axe in one of three robberies he committed in as many days during August 2020.
Judge Sarah Wright told Teklehaymanot: “On each occasion you clearly targeted your victim as a young person on their own when the streets were quiet.
"You threatened each of them with an axe and stole from them leaving them terrified and shaken.”
