South Yorkshire thug spared from jail after assaulting and harassing ex-partner
A thug has been given a suspended prison sentence after he trapped his partner’s arm in a car door and hounded her with texts.
Adam Dresser, aged 27, of Hall Street, Wombwell, Barnsley, had been arguing with the complainant in her car in Barnsley when he assaulted her, according to a Sheffield Magistrates’ Court hearing on October 9.
Robert Coyne, prosecuting, previously told a magistrates’ court hearing there was an argument and he spat in her face, grabbed her by the jaw and allegedly pulled the car door shut on the victim’s arm.
The defendant started texting the complainant, according to Mr Coyne, despite being on bail for the assault with a condition not to contact the complainant.

Mr Coyne added the complainant arranged to meet Dresser but his behaviour worsened and he demanded by text she should drop her accusations.
Dresser, who has previous convictions for damage and assault concerning the same complainant, pleaded guilty to assault by beating after the attack in July in Barnsley and to harassment between July and August in Sheffield.
John Evans, defending, told a previous hearing the relationship was toxic and the defendant and complainant were better off without each other.
Mr Evans added that after Dresser had spat at his ex-partner she slapped him and he reacted badly by bruising her arm.
Dresser was sentenced to 12 weeks of custody suspended for 24 months with a Building Better Relationships programme and a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.
He was given an indefinite restraining order and must pay £200 compensation and £85 costs.
