South Yorkshire Police arrest girl, 16, on suspicion of dealing drugs

A girl, aged 16, has been arrested by South Yorkshire Police on suspicion of dealing drugs.

She was arrested and placed in police custody after officer raided a house on Walter Street in Rotherham town centre yesterday.

A 25-year-old man was also detained on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

South Yorkshire Police said officers searched the house as part of an operation to tackle organised crime and drug supply across Rotherham.

Cannabis and cocaine, worth around £10,000 was seized.

Detective Inspector Scott Szymczak said: “Drugs supply in our community is rightly a real concern for people, and I want to assure everyone that we do review information passed to us and we do follow up any and every line of enquiry.

“Removing drugs from the streets saves lives, and activity like this really does have an impact on disrupting organised crime.

“Working together with our communities is vital.”
