Shooting of man on busy Sheffield road unsolved one year on

Nobody has yet been charged after a man was left fighting for life after a shooting on a busy Sheffield road one year ago.

A 28-year-old man was critically injured and needed emergency surgery after an incident on Staniforth Road, Darnall, on January 4, 2020.

Detectives investigating the shooting are treating it as a targeted attack.

The victim walking along Staniforth Road when a number of people got out of two cars and a ‘confrontation’ took place.

He was shot in his upper body during the disturbance and a large police cordon was put in place afterwards.

A 22-year-old man and a 17-year-old were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and later released without charge.

South Yorkshire Police said: “The investigation remains ongoing pending any new lines of enquiry.”
