Early hours shooting on Sheffield street results in major police response
Police cordoned off street in the early hours
An early hours shooting in Sheffield has sparked a major police investigation.
South Yorkshire Police sent officers to Fieldhead Road, near London Road, Lowfield, just after midnight, following what senior officers described as an attack on the community.
The road was sealed off just after midnight in the early part of Monday, September 21 with blue and white police tape and uniformed officers guarding the police line while investigations were carried out.
Police remained on the scene this afternoon, with yellow evidence markers on the ground at the location were officers were making their enquiries.

Officers said they were called the the incident at 12.02am on Monday (September 21).
They were called over a report that a gun was fired at a property on the street just before midnight.
They said in a statement: “Officers attended the location and found evidence consistent with a firearms discharge at the scene. No injuries were reported in connection with the incident.”
Officers say an investigation has been launched, and ‘enquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible’.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Cartwright, from the South Yorkshire Police Armed Crime Team, said: “This is an appalling attack on our community.
“I am incredibly thankful that no-one was injured, but all too often this is not the case when we deal with a firearms discharge.
“We will work around the clock to bring those responsible for gun crime to justice, but we cannot do it alone. This happened in a built up area and I believe someone must have seen something.”
“If you have any information about this incident, even if you think it may not be significant please get in touch. If you do not want to speak to the police, contact Crimestoppers.”
