Detective Chief Inspector Simon Cartwright, from the South Yorkshire Police Armed Crime Team, said: “This is an appalling attack on our community.

“I am incredibly thankful that no-one was injured, but all too often this is not the case when we deal with a firearms discharge.

“We will work around the clock to bring those responsible for gun crime to justice, but we cannot do it alone. This happened in a built up area and I believe someone must have seen something.”

“If you have any information about this incident, even if you think it may not be significant please get in touch. If you do not want to speak to the police, contact Crimestoppers.”

Police are asking anyone with information to contact them online or by calling 101, quoting incident number two of September 21 2026.
