Sheffield MP "utterly heartbroken" by "horrifying" murder of newborn baby
“I am utterly heartbroken by the horrifying murder of a newborn”
An MP has described the murder of a newborn in Sheffield as “horrifying” as she thanked the emergency services for their work.
Sheffield Brightside and Hillsborough MP Gill Furniss made the comments on Wednesday, September 2, the same day five people were charged in connection with the murder.

The incident took place on Holywell Heights in Wincobank on Sunday, August 30, with police and paramedics finding the newborn after receiving a concern for safety report.
A post-mortem has since revealed the baby girl died as a result of stab wounds.
“I am utterly heartbroken by the horrifying murder of a newborn in Wincobank,” the Labour MP said.
“I want to express my profound gratitude to the emergency services who responded to this devastating loss.
“I know the entire community is deeply shocked and saddened by this event and are understandably desperate for answers, but it is critical that we respect the legal process.
“I strongly urge everyone across our community and on social media to avoid any speculation or commentary that could in any way prejudice the ongoing judicial proceedings.”
The baby’s mum, Andrea Skopova, aged 20, of Robey Sreet, Page Hall, along with Peter Horvath, 19, Peter Horvath, 38, and Nina Horvathova, 37, of Holywell Heights, Wincobank, have been charged with murder, causing or allowing the death of a child, and perverting the course of justice by taking steps to conceal the killing of an infant after the baby girl’s death.
A 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to her age, has been charged with perverting the course of justice.
All five were remanded after an appearance at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court.
They are due to appear at Sheffield Crown Court tomorrow.
