Police send message to 'around 100' people on Sheffield street after Marcus Ramsay death

The detective leading the hunt for the killer of a Sheffield man stabbed outside a house party is calling for ‘support’ for the investigation into the murder.

Marcus Ramsay, aged 35, was killed when disorder broke out in Horninglow Road, Firth Park, in the early hours of Saturday, August 8.

A large number of people had attended a house party beforehand and when police officers and paramedics arrived after reports of the stabbing there were around 100 gathered at the crime scene.

No arrests have yet been made over the death of the dad-of-two.

Three other men, all aged 24, were also injured but survived.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Oughton, leading the police probe, said: “I estimate that around 100 people were congregated in Horninglow Road in the early hours of Saturday, and I am certain that many will hold vital information in to the altercation which led to Mr Ramsay’s death.

“It is now paramount that the community comes together and supports this investigation.”In an earlier appeal, DCI Oughton said: “The answers to this investigation lie within the local community.

“As we work to piece together exactly what happened and provide answers for Mr Ramsay’s family, it’s these people who we need to come forward and speak to us.

“I am urging anyone who saw what happened or knows who is responsible, to get in touch. Even if you think the piece of information you have is insignificant, it could prove vital to our investigation.”
