Police probe continues after boy, 16, is seriously injured in shooting in Sheffield

Detectives are continuing to investigate a shooting in Sheffield in which a 16-year-old boy was seriously injured.

The boy was in a silver Volkswagen Golf which was fired at near to Thirlwell Road, Heeley, at around 12.50am on Saturday, February 26.

South Yorkshire Police said the teenager was shot in his back and taken to hospital in a serious condition.

A 30-year-old man was also shot but was less seriously injured and was discharged from hospital after treatment.

He was arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and drink driving.

Police patrols were stepped up in Heeley over the weekend in the wake of the gun attack.

Witnesses, anyone in the area at the time of the shooting or motorists with dash cam footage should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident 42 of February 29.
