Police probe continues after arrests over illegal firearm in Sheffield street

A police probe is continuing today into an incident in Sheffield in which terrified residents said they heard the sound of gunfire.

Armed police were deployed to Stubbin Lane, Firth Park, yesterday (Sunday) and two men were arrested for firearms offences.

But officers claim that no guns were fired in the incident and nobody was injured.

Two men in their 20s arrested at the scene on suspicion of possessing an illegal firearm remained in police custody last night.
