Police hoping to seal up Sheffield flat after finding drugs and cash in raid

Police officers are in court today applying for a closure order for a flat where drugs and thousands of pounds were found in a raid.

Officers found the white powder and £6,000 stash of notes in a flat in Broomhall on Wednesday.

They used a chainsaw to force entry to the property where they said they also found evidence of drug use.

South Yorkshire Police said the raid was ‘in response to recent violence in the area linked to drug gangs’.

The force added: “Today our officers will be in court seeking a closure notice on the Broomhall address to try and have it shuttered for three months.

“We believe it is responsible for disorder in the area relating to fall-outs over territory between drug dealers.”
