Trio charged with attempted murder after shootings on Sheffield estate

Last night, South Yorkshire Police revealed that gunshots were fired in Kenninghall Road, Arbourthorne, at around 7.30pm.

A house was shot at but nobody was injured.

But is now emerged that there was also a second shooting on Myrtle Road in neighbouring Heeley, 15 minutes earlier.

No arrests have yet been made.

In a statement, South Yorkshire Police said: “On Thursday, July 2, around 7.15pm, officers attended Myrtle Road in Sheffield following reports of gunshots being fired.“Shortly afterwards at 7.30pm, officers were called to Kenninghall Road following reports of another firearms discharge.“No one was injured during the incidents. Cordons are in place at the scenes and there is an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their enquiries.”

Last night’s gun attacks came 48 hours after another two shootings in Arbourthorne on Tuesday night.

Guns were fired at homes on Errington Avenue and Aylward Road, Arbourthorne, less than 10 minutes apart.

Nobody was injured in either incident but the windows of two home were hit with bullets.

Joshua Motteshead, aged 20, of St Aidan’s Avenue, Norfolk Park; Demi Dunford, 24, of Derby Street, Heeley and Nicky Haycock, 22, of Ironside Close, Gleadless Valley, have all been charged with attempted murder and remanded into police custody over the first two incidents.

They are due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today.

Last night’s shootings are believed to be linked to the earlier incidents.

Police patrols have been stepped up as a result of the spike in gun crime.

There have been a number of shootings in Arbourthorne and Heeley over recent months, including one gun attack in which a 12-year-old boy was injured.

He needed surgery to remove a bullet from his leg.

That incident resulted in a public meeting attended by MP Louise Haigh, police and council officials.
