The Page Hall resident, who does not wish to be named, has contacted Sheffield Council to report the incident on Willoughby Street, which took place late at night on Friday, January 8.

He has video footage of a family on the street dumping a number of black sacks of rubbish on the pavement next to a general waste bin.

The man, who has lived in the area most of his life, said he has been reporting fly-tipping to the council ‘for years’ but is yet to see an improvement.

The 28-year-old is calling for CCTV cameras to be installed and wants clear signage advising that fly-tipping is an offence.

He is also calling for more enforcement.

Residents regularly take photographs of fly-tipping on the handful of streets which make up Page Hall and share them on social media to highlight their plight.

The resident who captured the video footage said: “Fly-tipping has been a constant issue for around five years I would say.

“No matter how many times I report it, nothing changes. The council wardens come out every week and go through the waste looking for clues as to who dumped it but it happens again and again.

“Some people may not understand the bin system, others just do not care, but enough is enough now.

“I have video of one family dumping about 10 bags and I hope something is done about it.

“But long term we need CCTV cameras on all the streets. It is the only way to try to stop it.”

He labelled fly-tipping a ‘health hazard’ and said rats are an issue on the streets of Page Hall in the summer months.

Sheffield Council recently appointed a new area manager to deal with issues in Page Hall, with the job due to start next week.

South Yorkshire Police has also created a new police team to concentrate on the area and an empty house was recently turned into a base for the officers.

Sheffield Council has been contacted.
