No arrests yet after four men are shot in gun attacks in Sheffield

No arrests have yet been made over two shootings in Sheffield in the early hours of this morning.

But detectives investigating the incidents in Burngreave and Sharrow said enquiries ‘are progressing at pace’ and the force does ‘not believe there to be any risk to the wider public’.

The first shooting in Grimesthorpe Road, Burngreave, was reported just after midnight, when a gun was fired towards a group of men in the street.

Three men were shot and taken to hospital for treatment, where they remain.

Their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Two hours later a 53-year-old man was shot in an incident in Club Garden Road, Sharrow.

He too was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds.

Police patrols have been stepped up and cordons are in place around both crime scenes.

Door-to-door enquiries are being carried out.Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Henderson said: “I understand the concern that incidents like these cause within the local community, and I would like to reassure everyone that we are doing all we can to build up a picture of the circumstances surrounding both of these incidents. “The investigations are in their very early stages but please know that our enquiries are progressing at pace and we do not believe there to be any risk to the wider public.”
