Abdi Ali, aged 29, has been named as a ‘significant’ suspect wanted by the police for questioning over the murder of 47-year-old Shaun Lyall in July 2018.

Mr Lyall was battered with golf clubs, screwdrivers, a knife, scissors and length of wood in his home in Cleethorpes.

The motive for his murder is said to have been missing drugs and cash that Mr Lyall was supposed to have been looking after.

Craig Whittle 45, of Corporation Road, Grimsby, was jailed for life over the murder but jurors in his trial were told that Ali was also involved in the brutal attack.

He continues to evade arrest by ignoring repeated appeals for him to come forward to help police with their enquiries.

A £5,000 Crimestoppers reward for information leading to Ali’s arrest is available in a bid to tempt those who know where he is to come forward.

Serena Lyall, Mr Lyall's mother, has set up a Facebook page in which she posts regular updates about the ongoing hunt for Ali, who is originally from Somalia but moved to Sheffield as a child.

He moved to the east coast in the summer of 2018 but still has links to Pitsmoor and Shirecliffe in Sheffield.

Ali is also known as Black Johnny, Gulaid and Madman.

In her latest post, Mrs Lyall said: “Hunted nationwide in connection with the brutal torture and murder of my son, Shaun.

“He could be hiding somewhere in a Somalian community. He could be wearing a burka as some have suggested.“He could be in Somalia or some other country.

“He could be hiding in a caravan or living on the street in some city disguised.

“Wherever he is, I will continue to share his picture far and wide, in every way possible and the police have assured me that there will be no let up in their continuing active nationwide search until he is found, which I firmly believe he will be.”
