Murder probe enters third day as boy, 15, is arrested over killing on Sheffield estate

A murder probe in Sheffield has entered its third day today, with an 15-year-old boy one of two suspects in custody.

The teenager from Sheffield was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday morning over the death of 42-year-old Anthony Sumner, who was attacked on Windy House Lane, Manor, just before midnight on Thursday into Friday.

A 49-year-old man, also from Sheffield, is also being held on suspicion of murder.

Paramedics battled to revive Mr Sumner but he could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Flowers now mark the spot where he was killed, just yards away from Norfolk Park School.

Detective Chief Inspector Simon Palmer, leading the murder probe, said: “We are doing everything we can to establish the sequence of events that led to the tragic death of Anthony.”
