Men found guilty again over killing of Good Samaritan on Sheffield street following retrial
“I cannot imagine what they have been through, having to endure a second murder trial after they thought that justice had been served"
A man has been found guilty for a second time over the murder of a Good Samaritan in a Sheffield street.
Louis James was convicted by a jury following a retrial at Leeds Crown Court.

The jury also found Dereck Owusu guilty of manslaughter, overturning a murder conviction for the same incident.
The pair were previously jailed for the murder of Reece Radford on September 29, 2022.
The Good Samaritan had intervened when he saw a 17-year-old girl being assaulted by Owusu on Arundel Gate in the city centre.

Owusu and James then attacked Reece, with James stabbing him. Reece sadly died in hospital six days later.
The pair were initially found guilty of murder at Sheffield Crown Court in April 2023.
A retrial was held following a successful appeal against their convictions.

Today, Thursday, October 22, at Leeds Crown Court, a jury upheld James’ murder conviction and found Owusu guilty of manslaughter rather than murder.
Senior investigating officer, Detective Inspector Adam Watkinson, from South Yorkshire Police’s major crime unit, said: “My thoughts remain with Reece’s friends and family.
“I cannot imagine what they have been through, having to endure a second murder trial after they thought that justice had been served."
Owusu, 43, previously of Strathmore Grove, Rotherham and James, 50, previously of Manor Lane, Sheffield will be re-sentenced at a later date.
