He was driving a Peugeot which ran out of control and landed on its side on Bernard Road, near Hyde Park, yesterday.
When officers arrived they found a set of crutches at the crash scene.
South Yorkshire Police said: “Think the driver must have thought he was doing laps on the Nurburgring with the skid marks he left on the road.

“Then out he climbed and off he ran trying to flag down motorists to give him a lift.
“We were a little curious as to why there were two hospital crutches in the car but after a quick check of some camera footage all was revealed as we watched him hobbling away with a pot on his leg.”
