Man in court over gun shop raid in Sheffield

A man has appeared in court today over a raid at a gun shop in Sheffield.

Shabaz Ismail, aged 19, of Glover Road, Sharrow, appeared before Sheffield magistrates accused of burglary, possession of a firearm without a certificate and possession of a knife in a public place.

The charges relate to a burglary at Hardy’s Gunsmiths on Alderson Road, Sheffield, Highfield, which was reported to the police at 12.50am on Friday, April 3.

Andrew Coy, 33, of Eldon Court, Sheffield city centre, was charged with aggravated burglary, burglary, possession of a shotgun and possession of a firearm earlier this month.

It has not yet been revealed by South Yorkshire Police how many guns were stolen in the raid.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call 101 and quote incident number 26 of April 3.
