Man arrested following search warrant after Sheffield shooting

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear or harm following a shooting in Sheffield earlier this month.

Police were called to Machon Bank at around 6.50pm on Friday 8 May following reports of shots being fired. Evidence of a firearms discharge was found at the scene but no one was injured.

An investigation into the incident has seen a “significant amount of drugs and weapons seized”, a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said.

On Thursday morning, officers searched a property on Grange Crescent in Sharrow. A 20-year-old man arrested as part of the operation has since been bailed.

DCI Jamie Henderson said: “We are committed to taking action against those who pose a risk to our communities or intend to cause fear and harm.“You will continue to see an increased presence in police officers in the area, we are there to protect you and provide reassurance.”
