Litterbugs shamed for mess left behind after illegal gathering on bowling green in Sheffield

Litterbugs have been shamed for the mess left behind after an illegal gathering on a bowling green in Sheffield.

The pictures were taken on Saturday morning and show litter strewn across the bowling green.

McDonalds wrappers, plastic glasses, bottles and bags can be seen dumped on the ground.

The illegal lockdown gathering has been reported to South Yorkshire Police.

A man who saw the rubbish on the bowling green and the damage to the grass said: “Judging by the amount of letter and glasses left behind, there will have been several people gathered – breaking Covid-19 rules.

“They also climbed fences to get to the bowling green and caused damage to the maintained playing surface.”

Under lockdown rules aimed at reducing the spread of coronavirus people from different houses can only meet in groups of two for exercise.
