Homes raided by police on Sheffield estate

Police officers armed with a chainsaw and battering rams raided homes on a Sheffield estate.

They forced entry into two homes in the Westfield area of the city yesterday morning after being granted search warrants. The raids took place on Westland Grove and Cowley gardens and two garages were also searched as part of the pre-planned operation.

A woman and three men were arrested and all four were held for questioning before being released under investigation. Three of the suspects were arrested at the property on Westland Grove, while a fourth suspect was arrested at Cowley Gardens.

Police said the arrests were drug-related and in connection with handling stolen goods.

South Yorkshire Police has not yet disclosed the identities of the suspects.
