Motorist using M1 in South Yorkshire as 'racetrack' caught at 130mph

A motorist was caught using the M1 in South Yorkshire as a ‘racetrack’ last night, after reaching speeds of 130mph.

South Yorkshire Police said the motorist was recorded speeding at around 10.45pm.

The force said: “This driver gave us quite the sob story about the 130mph.

“He begged not to get a ticket. His speed was such that a ticket wasn’t an option. The option was a driver reported to court to explain why he was using the road as a racetrack.”
