Police lift High Green cordon allowing evacuated residents to return home
The investigation into potential explosive substances is ongoing
A 100-metre cordon around a house on Mapplebeck Road in High Green has been lifted, enabling residents to return to their homes.
Police and bomb disposal experts have been working at the scene - a house on Mapplebeck Road since Friday, September 11.

Residents were evacuated and a cordon was placed around the house at the centre of the investigation yesterday, after a discovery was made during a search.
In an update issued tonight (Wedensday, September 16, 2026), police have confirmed that the cordon has now been lifted, leaving evacuated residents free to return to their homes.
The South Yorkshire Police statement, in full, reads: “The 100-metre cordon around a house on Mapplebeck Road in High Green has been lifted, enabling residents to return to their homes.
“On behalf of all involved in the search operation, we thank residents for their patience and understanding.
“We do not underestimate the disruptive impact evacuations have on peoples’ lives and only take these decisions to keep people safe.
“While the Army’s Explosive Ordnance Team has confirmed there is no longer a risk to nearby homes, the investigation into potential explosive substances is ongoing.”
