Hackenthorpe: Brawl on Sheffield estate involving alleged drunk driver sparks large police presence

Three people were injured last night after a fight broke out on an estate in Sheffield.

South Yorkshire Police were called on Tuesday, August 27, at 5.46pm to reports of a disturbance at an address on Weakland Crescent in the Hackenthorpe area of Sheffield.

It is reported that a large group of people were involved in fighting and windows at an address and two vehicles were smashed. It is also reported that a pedestrian and a red Nissan Qashqai were involved in a collision.

Photos from the scene showed at least three police vehicles, an ambulance, and an air ambulance in attendance.

A police spokesperson said three people - one man and two women - suffered injuries which are “not thought to be life threatening or life altering”.

One woman was taken to hospital and the other injured parties were treated by ambulance staff at the scene.

Police were at the scene until around 9.30pm while emergency services carried out their work.

A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon, and criminal damage. He remains in police custody at this time.

Jodie Shaw, 33, of Weakland Crescent has been charged with driving a motor vehicle over the prescribed limit for alcohol, using a motor vehicle on a road without third party insurance, and assault of a police officer. She has been bailed to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on September 9.
