Police confirmed they are investigating the break-in.

They said in a statement: “On Saturday (October 31) we received a report of a burglary on East Bank Road, in Sheffield.

“It is reported that at around 5pm, a group of unknown people gained entry to a commercial premises and stole drinks and food.”

Enquiries are ongoing and anyone with any information is asked to contact police online or on 101, quoting incident number 328 of October 31 2026.

Local councillors set up a petition to save the pub last month, and were given assurances by owners Stonegate that they planned to re-open it.

Coun Ben Miskell said at the time: “Our local pubs are so much more than places to have a drink.

“They’re at the heart of our communities, bringing people together, tackling loneliness and providing welcoming spaces where people from all walks of life can meet, celebrate and feel a sense of community.

“Over the years, we’ve lost far too many of them.”
