Kavan Brissett was stabbed in an ‘altercation’ on a car park in Upperthorpe, on August 14, 2018 and died in hospital four days later but his killer remains at large.

Detectives know that the 21-year-old went to the Grammar Street car park with a group of friends on the night he was stabbed.

He was knifed in his heart as violence flared and managed to stagger a quarter of a mile from the crime scene before collapsing in Langsett Walk, where the alarm was raised.

CCTV captured a man, who has not yet been tracked down, running away from the crime scene.

Detectives believe 31-year-old Ahmed Farrah could hold vital information about the incident and have circulated him as ‘wanted’ both nationally and internationally.

A £5,000 reward for information leading to his arrest remains available.

Farrah, who has links to Broomhall, was captured on CCTV at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, where he was treated for facial injuries, on the same night that Kavan was stabbed.

He returned to the hospital the following day but then disappeared.

The last confirmed sighting of Farrah, who is also known as ‘Reggie’, was in Cardiff the month after Kavan’s death.

He has not been seen since but has not been reported as missing by his family.

Detective Chief Inspector Jude Ashmore, of South Yorkshire Police, said she wants to hear from anyone who knew Kavan or who knows Farrah in the hope that they may provide new lines of enquiry.

“We still have the same team of detectives working on the case and the search for Ahmed Farrah. It may be two years on but the case is still active,” she said.

“We are appealing to people to think about this from the perspective of if it was your son, your brother, your grandson, how would you feel? Please think of Kavan’s family.

“It is key to get justice for Kavan’s family because without that there will be no closure.

“To find out what exactly happened and why would give the answers the family so desperately want.

"This is still very raw for the family.”

The murder weapon used in the stabbing was never recovered and although it took place in broad daylight no independent witnesses to the actual attack have ever come forward.

DCI Ashmore said she believes the stabbing was ‘not a chance, random attack.’

And she urged anyone who believes they may have information to come forward.

“Even if they think it is not significant, it could be to us. It does not matter how small they think that piece of information is, it could be the vital piece that we need,” the senior detective added.

“If anyone has spoken to Ahmed Farrah over the last two years, we would implore them to come forward.”

Four men have been charged with conspiracy to rob on the night of the fatal stabbing and are due to stand trial at Sheffield Crown Court in March.

Anyone with any information should call South Yorkshire Police on 101 and quote incident number 827 of August 14.
