Cyclist critically injured in incident outside Park Hill flats in Sheffield

A cyclist is in hospital after being found critically injured outside Park Hill flats in Sheffield over the weekend.

The man, in his 20s, was found unconscious by a member of the public at 5am on Saturday, July 31.

He was slumped on the ground in South Street at its junction with Anson Street.

A police cordon was put in place at the spot where the injured man was found over the weekend, with forensic collision investigation units among those who attended.

The injured man was taken to the Royal Hallamshire Hospital, where he remains in critical condition this morning.

Acting Sergeant Martyn Micklethwaite, the officer leading the investigation for South Yorkshire Police, said: “This cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries and our officers are currently doing everything they can do investigate the cause of the incident.

“The cyclist was found in a busy part of Sheffield so I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam or CCTV footage, to come forward.”
