'Always smiling': Sheffield councillor pays tribute to young man killed in Ecclesall Road crash

Ibrahim Warsame, aged 19, was killed when the scooter he was riding was involved in a collision on Ecclesall Road just after 1am yesterday.
He was taken to hospital but despite the efforts of medics could not be saved and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Hide AdAn investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision has been launched, with police officers keen to track down motorists with dash cam footage to help them piece together exactly what happened.


They are also searching for CCTV footage from cameras around the crash scene.
Councillor Kaltum Rivers, who represents the Green Party in the Broomhill and Sharrow ward, said Ibrahim’s death was sad news for the city’s Somali community.
Posting on Facebook, she said: “We are all in shock. Such a kind-hearted boy and always smiling.

In another tribute, Abdullah Mohamed, who also knew Ibrahim said: “A dear youngster passed away last night in a car accident.
“Having known this brother since he was a child from the madrasah at the masjid, I can't tell you how much he was of an innocent soul he had. Very hard news to take in, such a wonderful soul he had.”
An online fundraising page set up in his memory to fund a water well to help others has raised over £3,700 so far.
