Burglary suspects arrested after police operation mounted in Sheffield suburb

Two burglary suspects were arrested in a police operation mounted following reports of crooks prowling a suburb and attempting to break into homes.

Officers in the Sheffield North West Neighbourhood policing team said they were ‘massively disappointed’ at reports that people had been ‘prowling around Deepcar’ at 3.30am yesterday attempting to break into houses.

After two failed attempts, thieves stole two vehicles from a house in the city suburb.

In a Facebook post, the police team said: “We have a real pride in our patch, and so when we got some information that one of the stolen cars might still be in the Stocksbridge area we roped in our colleagues from the Walkley team and together we hunted the suspects.

“After tracking them across fields between Underbank and Bolsterstone, we finally got hands on.

“Two arrested for burglary and currently being questioned.

“To the others that we haven't yet caught up with - we have gathered some good evidence today. We will be knocking soon.”
