Boy, 16, seriously injured in double shooting in Sheffield

A 16-year-old boy is seriously ill in hospital after a double shooting in Sheffield.

He and a 30-year-old man are both believed to have been hit when shots were fired at a silver Volkswagen Golf near to Thirlwell Road, in Heeley, during the early hours of this morning, Saturday, February 29.

The 16-year-old is understood to have been shot in the back and he remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The 30-year-old sustained minor injuries and was discharged from hospital overnight. He has since been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and for driving over the prescribed limit of alcohol.

Additional officers remain in the area as detectives try to build up a picture of what led up to the shootings.

Police patrols in Heeley are being stepped up, and members of the public have been encouraged to speak to officers if they have any concerns.

Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area and saw anything suspicious, especially those who may have dash cam footage.

The incident comes just weeks after another shooting not far away on Bramall Lane, where a witness told how a man staggered into a nearby shop asking for help after being hit on January 24.
