During Monday’s disturbance, a large group of people armed with wooden bats descended on the area.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle, and another man was assaulted during yesterday’s incident.

Issuing an update tonight (Wednesday, August 5, 2026), a South Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: “Four people have been arrested in connection with the disorder, with two men, aged 21 and 38, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and another man, aged 30, arrested on suspicion of assault.

“A 28-year-old man has also been arrested by officers on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon following a vehicle search.”

Last night, an order was activated under Section 60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 which gives officers temporary authority to stop and search any person or vehicle within a specific geographic area without needing standard reasonable suspicion.

This order has now been extended and will remain in place until 7.40pm tomorrow night (Thursday, August 6, 2026), with further use of police powers to be kept under constant review.

Police say the order “may be extended again if deemed proportionate and will be kept under constant review.”

James Lawson, Acting Inspector for Sheffield North East Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “We do not use Section 60 notices lightly. We have extended the order today because we take the threat of disorder very seriously, and our priority will always be to protect residents.

“Officers will continue to carry out patrols in Page Hall today, tonight and in the coming days to provide a direct point of contact for anyone with concerns, and to deter further offending.

“We have also carried out dozens of stop searches under the Section 60 order, and completed weapons sweeps in the area. One person has been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

“My message to those in and around Page Hall is clear - do not engage in disorder, do not carry weapons and respect the Section 60 order. If you are involved in criminal disorder, you will be arrested and dealt with appropriately.”
