He had 144 previous offences

A Sheffield burglar with 144 previous offences has appeared at court again.

Career criminal Lee Wragg, aged 51, entered Devonshire Courtyard on Wellington Street in Sheffield city centre on November 18 last year - forcing his way in before “concealing himself” in the communal area where clothes had been left.

He stole three coats.

He was identified later by police reviewing CCTV footage, Alice Ibbotson, prosecuting, told Sheffield Crown Court.

The following month on December 4 he took advantage of a faulty entrance door at another student building - Apollo Residence on Furnival Square that time.

Ms Ibbotson said Wragg then rifled through a handbag left on the counter by the building’s receptionist, however after finding nothing worth taking he swiped a couple of parcels.

Among Wragg’s 144 previous offences were 112 for “theft and kindred”, the court heard.

Wragg, of no fixed abode, admitted burglary.

He was jailed for three years and eight months.
