Abbeydale Road Sheffield: Street sealed off and shop damaged after serious car crash

A road was sealed off last night while emergency services dealt with a serious crash that saw a vehicle collide with a Sheffield shop front.

Police were reported to have sealed off a section of Abbeydale Road after the incident, which happened at around 9pm last night.

It is understood two cars were involved, and they are thought to have collided before one of the vehicles struck a shop front. As well as South Yorkshire Police, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the Yorkshire Ambulance Service were also on the scene.

Firefighters were on the scene for a couple of hours, freeing two people who had become trapped in vehicles as a result of the crash.

Police cordoned off the scene with blue police tape while emergency services worked, and officers are believed to be investigating what happened.

The air ambulance is understood to have landed in Mount Pleasant Park.
