Sheffield’s famous pork sandwich shop Beres goes viral after incredible Rate My Takeaway review

Rate My Takeaway which reviews takeaways the length and breadth of the country recently visited Sheffield's favourite sandwich pork shop Béres after receiving hundreds of requests.

The show has become a huge hit on Youtube and Facebook as host and takeaway expert Danny Malin drives to local eateries and delivers his verdict on their culinary offerings.

Danny said: “We published the video yesterday which has been seen more than 130,000 views in less than 24 hours.

“When I came last time to Sheffield people were saying they couldn’t believe I’d not been to Béres.

“We went to a couple of takeaways and people were saying “You should have gone to Béres”

“They said they were famous for a particular sandwich

“So I decided to come and see if it tickled my tastebuds.

Danny, who originally hails from Barnsley added: “Béres get ready I’ll show you what the city of steel is all about have you got the nerve to fill the fat man?”

He parked up outside the shop on Halifax Road and set up his trademark camping chair and picnic table to deliver his verdict on the sandwich.

He ordered a jumbo pork sandwich with dripping apple sauce and crackling and was mightily impressed.

“The lady in the shop asked me if I had been here before. My answer was no and she said: “I’ll see you again,” he said.

“Do you know what? She isn’t kidding!”

“This is a beautiful sandwich.”

He gave the sarnie a rare nine score.

Catherine Béres said: “It was a lovely piece that he did and it was nice to be recognised – though I’m not sure how we dropped a point!

“All our shops are brilliant- that shop has been there for over 25 years.

“I know Rate My Takeaway has thousands of followers around the country, so I’m not sure if it will have increased our trade at that particular shop.

Béres, which started in 1961 has 12 shops in and around the city with a new one opening soon on Ecclesall Road.
