New Sheffield food venue sets up in partnership with popular takeaway Falafel King owners

Venue set to open in newly refurbished row of shops

Bosses have revealed what will be sold at a new Sheffield food venue when it opens near the city centre.

Sewa is one of three new businesses opening up in newly refurbished units on Devonshire Street, close to Devonshire Green, and is part of a partnership with the Falafel King ‘s owners. Felafel King is a well known takeaway near Broomhill.

The Star reported last week that Sewa’s sign has now been put in place, and now bosses have explained what the business is and what they will be selling

Co founder of Sewa, Abdullah Elsaadawy, explained that the owners of Sewa were long standing friends with the owners of Steak’d, which is also opening up, next door in the same Sheffield block.

He said: “Now the sons of both owners are separately working to build each brand and business. Steak’d was brought in next door for a number of reasons including their social media presence.

“Sewa is a new brand partnering with the Falafel King owners to bring a new style of healthy shawarma to Sheffield whilst also providing a vegan option (falafel)and also fresh cold pressed juices.

“Sewa in Arabic means together, which was chosen because the aim of this shop is to bring different cultures and different food preferences such as vegans and meat eaters as well as the health fanatics together under one roof.”

Shawarma is a Middle Eastern dish made from thin slices of marinated meat, usually chicken, beef, lamb,

The Sewa shop is one of three shop units to have recently seen a major refurbishment.

It had been empty for several years, having previously been home to the former Rare and Racy second hand record and book shop.

One of the shops in the same refurbished block re-opened earlier this year as the Hairinspire barber shop, which is already up and running.

And signs have also gone up for the Steak’d steak venue.

Steak’d currently runs another takeaway from a shop in Cyclops Street, near Grimesthorpe Road, but has said it is planning to open another venue soon.
