A number of charities in Sheffield and South Yorkshire, including the RSPCA and Thornberry Animal Sanctuary, have lots of lovely animals who have been rescued and are all in desperate need of a home.
Although rehoming a rescue dog can sometimes be challenging, it can also be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences there is.
Patterdale Terrier/Staffordshire Bull Terrier, 3 years 3 months.
Whiskey is a very complicated little lady who needs a lot of support to help her re-adjust to home living. She needs an adult only home with experienced dog owners that can work with her to build on her confidence with new people and dogs. She must live in a quiet environment and have a securely fenced garden area to exercise. A rural setting is ideal. It is essential that Whiskey has no leaving hours initially, and they must be built up very slowly with realistic expectations that she really struggles to be left alone. Whiskey is a fantastic little project dog, given the right environment and training she has so much potential. Photo: Thornberry

Marvelous Manny is a strikingly handsome ex-racing greyhound. His racing days are now behind him and he hopes to start his new year right by finding his perfect new home! Manny enjoys his walks and is confident to explore new places. He could live with other sighthounds and is friendly with similar sized breeds. He could live with children aged 11+ Photo: Thornberry
Shih Tzu, 2 years 10 months old.
Lulu is a sensitive little girl who had arrived to Thornberry struggling with a phantom pregnancy. It takes a little while to earn her trust - but she is a very loving dog! she really enjoys walks, and can walk for a long time despite her little legs! Lulu must live with adults only, and her new owners would ideally have some experience of nervous / rescue dogs. If you feel you could offer Lulu her new home then please email our kennel team at [email protected] to request an application form. Photo: Thornberry

Poppy is a beautiful natured girl who loves to spend time with us in reception. She is a firm favourite with our volunteers and gives us a very cheery hello in the morning. Poppy will need further help socialising in her new home, but is manageable on a lead. She would thrive in an area with quieter walking areas. Photo: Thornberry
